Why video teaches better than text (when it is done right)

The practical evidence is consistent: chunk content into two to five minute videos, one per learning objective; cut the decorative, because every element on screen competes for attention; signal what to look at with zooms, arrows or graphics at each moment; and close with application, asking the learner to perform the task immediately afterward. A script reviewed by someone who actually knows the subject avoids the most expensive mistake, producing incorrect content beautifully.

How to measure the improvement

Do not measure views, measure performance. Compare error rates, task completion times or assessment scores before and after introducing the video, and watch which segments get rewatched most, a signal of confusion or of value.
